Garston Remembrance Day Sunday Lunch.

13th November 2016

Once again, W Bro Derek Horrocks the Provincial Grand Masters Special Representative for Garston Group of Lodges organised an excellent Sunday lunch at Garston Masonic Hall. Freemasons family and friends gathered together in Remembrance of the Fallen in all wars.
>
With mixed emotions, almost eighty people attended the lunch. Some with memories of involvement in conflicts' others with thoughts of family and friends, who took part in various conflicts'. All gathered together and were reminded of the futility of War. Young, old and the innocent killed and maimed during conflicts is utter madness.

The gathering was also reminded of the joy of comradeship.

We were entertained by Sara Chidlow from the Birkenhead Amateur Operatic Society.
Sarah interrupted her rehearsals for her part in a performance of White Christmas in a Liverpool theatre next week.
After entertaining the guests for over an hour. Sarah thanked everyone for attending the lunch. In return W Bro Derek Horrocks thanked Sarah for her performance, and her generosity in not charging for entertaining the guests, which allowed a final sum of £ 450 being raised on the day.

The amount raised is being donated to West Lancashire Mark Masons Charity fund and ring fenced for the Pod scheme, which is placed in Altcar Army Training Camp at Formby near Southport.
V W Bro Michael Clarke P.G.J.O Assistant thanked all concerned with the day and for the monies raised, he also explained about the Pod Scheme, and the benefits to those who are suffering from health issues from conflicts whilst serving their Country.

W Bro Howard P.J.G.D Chairman for the Garston Group of Lodges (Craft), thanked all concerned in particular the efforts of the degree of Mark Master Masons in Garston who are under the guidance of W Bro Derek Horrocks the Provincial Grand Masters Special Representative for Garston.
